PROGENIKA’s BLOOD GROUP GENOTYPING TEST AVAILABLE THROUGH ARUP LABORATORIESCambridge, MA, October 22, 2009 – Progenika, Inc. today announced that it has entered into an agreement with ARUP Laboratories (ARUP) of Salt Lake City, UT, to provide blood group genotyping reference laboratory services to ARUP to determine patient red blood cell antigen profiles when serology has logistic and functional limitations. Progenika’s blood group genotyping microarray, which simultaneously detects over 100 genetic variants in the nine blood group systems that are most relevant to transfusion safety, overcomes these serological limitations. |
Through genetic testing, we help doctors to make better informed decisions about diagnosis and prognosis of diseases. This way, they are given the tools to be able to individualize treatment improving patient safety and quality of life.
GENETICS AND DIAGNOSTICS
Common diseases occur at the interface of genes and the environment, as both inherited as well as lifestyle and other health risk factors play important roles in the disease process. A better and more personalized understanding of risk may therefore help to empower individuals and their doctors to implement more rigorous and potentially more effective prevention strategies, with the goal of reducing the likelihood that an inherited predisposition to a given condition may go on to develop into a disease.
Progenika’s core business is the design and production of allele-specific oligonucleotide genotyping microarrays to be used in the diagnosis and prognosis of genetically complex diseases and prediciting response to therapy.
